Throbbing Cattle: A Short History

Formed from the ashes of Unknown Heroes, Drug Puppies, and Senora Morehead's high school Spanish class, Throbbing Cattle exploded and oozed onto the Houston music scene in 1983. Mike and KK had been partners in mayhem at Katy High School, and Unknown Heroes, before Mike escaped from the suburban Hell of KHS to attend HSPVA, where he was assigned to be a "study partner" with Ken in Senora Morehead's Spanish class. The two mangled dialog after dialog and barely passed the course, but when Mike's band Drug Puppies broke up and he needed a new drummer, Ken got the call. Mark, the bearded guitarist/bass player completed the line up, and Throbbing Cattle were birthed.

The band was tragically overlooked in its day. But with such classic throbbing grooves as the reggae-inspired "House of Jah," the raw intellectualism of "That's Stupid!," and the seemingly never-ending and often-repeating "Twist and Scream," the band will continue to ring in the ears of those lucky few who heard it during the legendary Summer of '83.

Now, rescued from the mouth of a 34 year old boombox, Throbbing Cattle bellow again.
